THEIR FIRST EVER CREATED WATCH COLLECTION CAME TO LIFE IN CLOSE COLLABORATION AND BY UNDERSTANDING THEIR PATRIMONY.

Identity research

For the first watch collection of Buddhatobuddha we explored the brand by using inspiring details from their existing jewellery and with design tools like moodboards and a toolbox. Once our goals were set, a clear briefing could be made to start with the first sketches and designs.

Design - Aquatic Explorer

Our Brand research resulted in a clear briefing from Buddha to Buddha with two themes: Dive and Race. The first sketches of these dive watches were translated in 2D digital drawings until we ended the design process with photo realistic 3D renderings. As they could directly be used for their first public presentations. The final name of this collection became: Aquatic explorer.

Technical development

Between the final designs and the start of production we entered a period of development, which included the making of technical plans, material carts and prototypes. This is an important period in the development of a watch line, like that of Buddha to Buddha : the final choices of many interesting details are made.

Strategic publicity

Marketing wise Buddha to Buddha invests in catalogues, events, fairs and internet media. Launch events were organized for world-wide distributors in Amsterdam, in Balinese style and during the ADE (Amsterdam Dance Event). At Ibiza, Spain, they main-sponsored a powerboat-race competition, during which journalists were invited to participate in different activities. The results let to many internet and paper media articles about the watches.
